About ECCO

ECCO (European Contemporary Composers Orchestra) is an ECSA project dedicated to performing and promoting contemporary art music as well as reaching new audiences. It operates as a network of active ensembles, orchestras and young professionals, supporting the creative dialogue between composers and performers and offering young professionals the opportunity to develop their skills with ensembles experienced in performing contemporary music on an international level.

The ECCO concert, and other cultural projects organised by ECSA, aims at increasing the visibility of ECSA and all the issues connected to the status of contemporary music creators. The music being played at the ECCO Concerts is received via a call to all ECSA member societies and is carefully selected to reflect the cultural and aesthetic diversity of European art music in the 21st century. The concert series is taking place twice a year in various countries, which serves the circulation of new and older repertoires across European borders and helps promote Europe’s musical diversity.

In 2021, seeing as the COVID-19 pandemic has made live concerts unsafe to hold, the ECCO concert series is going digital – from the first-ever open to public voting selection of compositions to the online streaming of the concert. The February edition of the 2021 ECCO concert will be streamed live on 2nd February 2021 and will feature pieces from composers all over Europe, performed by the ensemble Slagwerk Den Haag
